British insurance company, "Pinnacle", which sells veterinary policies to the dog owners, appealed to them to not feed their dogs chocolate. It is a very well known fact, that chocolate poisoning can cause death to the pets.

Many insurers start to call the insurance company few days before the Easter - it is precisely in this celebration the chocolate poisoning cases in dogs are very common. In Great Britain, the traditional gift for the Easter is a chocolate egg and many people very often share this gift with their four-legged friends. 

Chocolate contains such a significant concentration of theobromine, that is in most of the cases may be deadly for cats and dogs. Consequent poisoning causes painful symptoms in the animal: muscle cramps, diarrhea, bloody vomiting, thirst, and trembling. A dog who ate a large amount of chocolate, may die. The final result depends on the percentage of cocoa in the tile and the weight of the animal.

One tile of a dark chocolate, weighing 160 grams can cause death to a dog, that weights twenty pounds. So the owners of a small lap dogs have to be especially careful - even a tiny (insignificant from the first glance) amount of chocolate may become a reason for a serious health problems in small-sized dogs.

Well, it is good, that it happens very rarely. To the dog owners veterinarians recommend storing chocolate in places where their pets can not reach it, and in any case do not treat an animal with this delicacy.
